Phoenix Park

You could spend the whole day exploring the largest enclosed park in the whole of Europe. The park has a enormous collection of deer and you can even feed them if you have a carrot or two in your handbag (careful though, they are sometimes overly playful with their antlers). This is great place for a picnic on a sunny day! You could also splash out and visit Zoo or rent out bikes at the entrance to park and cycle around.

National Botanic Gardens

Green and beautiful gardens located in Glasnevin (Dublin 9), Botanic Gardens are the perfect spot if you want to get away from the city madness. Bring you picnic, great book and have a quiet time before the madness of night-time starts. Don’t forget to bring some nuts for the squirrels!

Dublin Castle Gardens

Dublin Castle is definitely a must see when in Dublin! There is a fee to get inside the beautiful castle itself but you can take a walk behind the castle and chill in a beautiful Dubh Linn Garden. While you are there, make sure to visit Chester Beatty Library (free!), our favorite museum in Dublin!  Museum is showcasing some of the rare books, manuscripts and art works from all the corners of the world, with some art dating as far back 2700 BC. Lonely Planet simply describe the Library as one these best Museums in Europe. Chester Beatty Library is simply a must-visit.

Art galleries & Museums

National Art Gallery has undergone huge renovation and is a state of the art facility now, one that should be on a must visit list for all art and history lovers. While you are in the National Gallery, explore museums close by – National History Museum (sometimes lovingly called Dead Zoo is very weird and wonderful at the same time) and National Museum of Ireland – Archaeology branch are all within minutes from each other. While in the National Museum, make sure to check out Bog People (mummified human remains from swamps). All national museums and galleries are free, so you might as well get cultured while you are here!

Science Gallery

Interactive gallery which showcases the best of the science, usually trying to answer interesting questions like – how to survive a catastrophe, is there life on the edge etc . Gallery hosts several exhibits during the year, all devoted  to explaining how science affects our daily life’s. They have really nice cafe as well and cool shop we absolutely love!

Trinity College

Although you won’t get a free pass to the Book of Kells and the amazing Long Library, the Trinity College Dublin still has a lot to offer for free. The entry to grounds is free and you can look around one of the oldest universities in Europe and chill out while watching a match on the college grounds.

Free walking Tour

Free walking tour of  Dublin departs every day in front of the Grand Social, 35 Liffey Street Lower, on the north side of the Ha’penny Bridge at 11am and 2pm. Gain an inside knowledge of the city of Dublin from well informed and Irish born tour guides – tour lasts around 2 hours and is very fun! We recommend doing this first day you are here as it gives you great orientation and intro in Dublin!
