If you like good music, pub outings and just having great time, you will love Festivals and Events in Dublin this January! From music trails, trad to contemporary tunes  and wonderful Chinese New Year, there is something for everyone! This is what we recommend to check out this January in Dublin:

First Fortnight

(1-15th January)

First Fortnight is a charity-based organisation with the express aim of challenging mental health prejudice through the creative arts. With plenty of events to pick from in these first two weeks of the year, and awesome charity goal behind it, this festival defo deserves a bit of your time! Check out all events on firstfortnight.ie and if you haven’t gone to one of singalong socials yet, you absolutely have to give it a go!

Dublin Bowie Festival

(5-10th of January)

When David Bowie passed away in early 2016, the world collectively mourned. People gathered around his records, descended on his off-Broadway play, and watched the Man Who Fell To Earth repeatedly, through tearful eyes.  A year on, Dublin’s very own Bowie Festival returns, emboldened by this new widespread and public passion for Bowie. Climb aboard a spaceship and experience the real Life on Mars during this awesome festival – more info here: www.dublinbowiefestival.ie

TradFest Temple Bar

(25-29th January)

TradFest is Ireland’s largest festival of traditional music and now it also features artists from the worlds of folk, nu-folk, and even (whisper it) rock and roll! Wonderful thing about this festival is that many of events are taking place in unusual venues. Also, loads of gigs are free (and who doesn’t like a bit of free trad!). Festival has been on for several years and it grows from strength to strength, so do not miss it! Bonus for all of you staying at Barnacles Temple Bar – there is usually a stage in the lane just next to us for some over the window music enjoying! Find our more www.templebartrad.com
