Dublin Bowie Festival

(7-13th of January)

When David Bowie passed away in early 2016, the world collectively mourned. People gathered around his records, descended on his off-Broadway play, and watched the Man Who Fell To Earth repeatedly, through tearful eyes.  A year on, Dublin’s very own Bowie Festival returns, emboldened by this new widespread and public passion for Bowie. Climb aboard a spaceship and experience the real Life on Mars during this awesome festival – more info here: www.dublinbowiefestival.ie

TradFest Temple Bar

(23-27th January)

TradFest is Ireland’s largest festival of traditional music and now it also features artists from the worlds of folk, nu-folk, and even (whisper it) rock and roll! Wonderful thing about this festival is that many of events are taking place in unusual venues. Also, loads of gigs are free (and who doesn’t like a bit of free trad!). Festival has been on for several years and it grows from strength to strength, so do not miss it! Bonus for all of you staying at Barnacles Temple Bar – there is usually loads of events and bands playing literally around our hostel so you even get to  enjoy the music through your window!
