Galway Gin Fest

30 March – 2nd April

Organised by The Latin Quarter, Galway Gin Festival is taking place in various venues around our hostel – great for you if you want to enjoy a tipple or two and be sure you will find a way back home! Gin festival is promising a weekend of gin-joyment, a range of events will be taking place in the bars throughout the Latin Quarter such as; Master Classes and Tastings, Gin Afternoon Tea, Gin Trails, Food & Gin Pairings, Gin Cocktails & Competitions, Blind Tastings, New Gin launches, Gin Experientials, along with Gins & Reels Music Sessions to name but a few and including a range of free workshops!

Galway Food Festival

Easter weekend, April 13-17

The 2017 event will include an extended food village on the banks of the Corrib, open-air markets, restaurant trails, cookery demonstrations, food tours to local artisan producers, foraging trips, food talks, tastings, wine and beer workshops, a meet the producers forum, lots of local produce, kids activities and family fun days. A new element of the festival will be the exploration of international diversity and global character of Galway food and celebrate the Galway Food Diaspora. Over 75 restaurants, food outlets and food producers will participate and most events will again be free-admission, all will be family friendly and many will have a strong ‘Galway’ flavour.

Galway’s unique and thriving dining scene will proudly present a host of culinary events across the City, exploring the traditions, products and dishes that have evolved over the last 100 years. A city once dominated by the 14 Tribes, Galway is now home to an array of over 43 nationalities, each offering a new assortment to the dynamic and multicultural culinary melting pot.

Galway Theatre Festival

18-23 April

Galway Theatre Festival features 6 days of exciting theatre, circus, spectacle, and storytelling, showcasing the vibrant performance culture of Ireland’s festival city. The goal of Galway Theatre Festival is to bring a fresh and lively programme of performance to the streets and venues of Galway, evoking a raw energy and adventurous spirit in our audiences. The festival draws on Galway’s unique theatrical heritage, and is one of Ireland’s only festivals dedicated to theatre and performance. The Festival provides a platform for national artists and artists based in the West of Ireland, bringing together a high-quality programme that showcases the best and newest talents in artistic performance.

Cuirt International Festival of Literature

23-30 April

Cúirt International Festival of Literature features an eclectic and exciting range of Irish and international writers for which Cúirt is renowned. Go to the official Cúirt website for full programme details. 

The list of writers coming to Galway this year is as impressive as ever, including novelists Eimear McBride (A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing, The Lesser Bohemians ) on April 28, Sara Baume (April 29 ), Paul Kingsnorth (April 29 and 30 ), and AL Kennedy; poets Simon Armitage and Terrance Hayes (April 29 ), and Mary O’Malley (April 26 ), Yrsa Daley-Ward and Terrance Hayes; crime writers Sophie Hannah and Denise Mina; singers Sean Tyrell, Lasairfhíona Ní Chonaola and Sive. 

All this sounds amazing!
