One of the best nights in the year must be, without any doubt, the Culture night. This year, Culture Night takes place on 22nd of September throughout the whole of Ireland. One amazing night when museums, attractions, government buildings and more stay open late, showcasing the best about culture, art, music and so much more. This night really needs to be experienced to be believed! Some of the events you shouldn’t miss in Dublin this year are:
Windmill Lane recordings studio
Synonymous with U2, the world famous Windmill Lane Recording Studio has been a constant and important fixture in the development of music in Ireland and has hosted artists such as The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Spice Girls, and more recently Lady GaGa, Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, Hozier and Kodaline. Don’t miss the opportunity to peek behind the closed doors for night of tours and performances
Always very popular at Culture Night (get there early, and be prepared to wait for a bit)! Visitors will be welcomed to the esoterically styled meeting rooms of this Victorian Hall, the purpose built headquarters of the Freemasons in Ireland since 1869. Really interesting place to visit.
Morning Gloryville Dublin is an immersive morning dance party that allows people to shed their inhibitions in a conscious clubbing experience free of alcohol and other intoxicants. Taking place in the evening, rather than usual 6 am, you can expect dancers, performers, hugs, conga lines, facepainters, drummers, DJs, MCs, yoga and massage all under one roof… or in this case, umbrellas of Temple Bar meeting square
Have you tried this before? Just singing along to well-known tunes? It is THE best fun, especially when nights are themed and you put an effort into the outfit and you are rocking that air guitar like never before… You get the idea. You don’t need to know how to sing! Do this!
Following the success of last year Dublin Castle will once again come to life for an evening that celebrates all aspects of our culture. The historic walls of the castle will reverberate with music, comedy, poetry and theatre. Attendees can also enjoy a number of talks, workshops and live radio recordings. Enjoy open-air concert from the Upper Courtyard of Dublin Castle. Always a crowd-puller, this staggering event will include music, theatre, comedy and poetry all in the company of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.
The worst tour of Dublin ever
Most walking tours of Dublin bring you to the usual spots – Trinners for winners, Molly Malone and her massive… pile of fish. Yawn. This tour explores our brilliant city in quite a different way. Learn almost-facts, help our tour guides and laugh on this very alternative tour of our fair city.
Fancy free yoga, dance classes, knitting or whiskey tastings? Keep an eye on the Culture night page for all details!
You are in luck as our Dublin hostel is located in the heart of Temple Bar! There will be literally hundreds of events happening right next to us – so make sure to join in the fun!
