June Bank Holiday events
There are so many great things happening this June Bank Holiday in both Dublin and Galway! Some of the things you don’t want to miss out on:
Dublin Port Riverfest is taking place around the North Quays, expect jam packed weekend of watery fun and events! There will also be live music, plenty of tall ships coming in to port, free tours of Jeanie Johnston and River kayaking try outs!

Bloom in the park is taking over Phoenix Park again from 28th of May till 1st of June. Bloom 2014 showcased 30 exquisite show gardens, from the very best of Ireland’s landscape gardeners and designers as well as over 120 Irish food producers. This year will be bigger and better with more shows, more food and well, more bloom!

At the same time, Bloom Fringe will be taking over the city, with pleanty of events just steps away from Barnacles Temple Bar Hostel (check out KC Peaches on the bottom of our street and Mercantile pub locations). The not-for-profit fringe festival is motivated by themes such as creativity, community, healthy living and sustainable biodiversity. BloomFringe spotlights vibrant gardening communities with a mission to grow the grass in grassroots.

The CAFE Arts Festival – Galway’s newest arts festival, the CAFE (Carrabane Arts for Everyone) Festival will take place on the June Bank Holiday weekend in the village of Carrabane, five minutes from Loughrea. The festival will centre on three locations – Carrabane’s newly opened Village Theatre, a forest walk which will be transformed by local children into The Enchanted Forest, and Carrabane Hall.
Carlsberg Salthill Devon Finals – The ‘Carlsberg Salthill National Fives’ annual tournament, now in its 39th year has become a highly anticipated date in Galway’s soccer calendar and sees a great mix of Galway natives, visitors and friends gather to enjoy this great footballing festival.
And unmissable, on Sunday night, get yourself over to Roisin Dubh for a massive silent disco party! Check their facebook page out for videos from last year. MASSIVE!
