Barnacles Hostel, Temple Bar House - DUBLIN


Q: Is breakfast included in the price?
A: Yes! A light continental breakfast which includes juice, tea/coffee/hot chocolate and a selection of breads and preserves is included in the price. This is available on a self-service basis in the kitchen between 7am and 9.30am daily. Fresh fruit is also available from reception at a minimal charge.

Q: Are linen and towels included?
A: All bed linen is included in your price. Towels are provided in Twin and Double rooms, and are available for hire at reception for guests in shared rooms.

Q: What are the check in and check out times?
A: Reception is open 24 hours so you can check-in anytime, but your rooms will not be ready for use until 3pm. Check out it at 10:30am. If you are arriving early on a long haul flight let us know as soon as possible and we will try our best to have your bed ready early. If you are arriving late we would appreciate if you could also let us know.

Q: Do Barnacles Hostels have a curfew?
A: No, there is no curfew at either of our hostels. Reception is open 24 hour a day.

Q: What safekeeping facilities are provided?
A: Safety deposit facilities are available (suitable for cameras, documents, laptops etc) for small daily charge. Both hostels also operate a left luggage facility where guests can store their bags during or after their departure for €1 per bag.

Q: What type of bathrooms does Barnacles hostels have?
A: All rooms have an ensuite bathroom. This includes a private toilet and shower.

Q: Can I book a room for females only?
A: Yes! If you want to book a female only room then you need to request this at the time of booking. Otherwise all our dormitory rooms are sold on a mixed sex basis. Please note that reservations are subject to availability.

Q: What is the difference between a Twin and Double room?
A: A twin room has a set of bunk beds and is suitable for two people sharing and a double room has one large double bed.

Q: Do I have to reserve a complete room?
A: No, in the dormitory rooms (12, 10, 8, 6 and 4 person rooms) you can buy the number of beds you need. The other beds will be sold on to other guests. In the case of twin and double rooms the room is sold on a per room basis only.

Q: What methods of payment are accepted?
A: Our preferred methods are cash, Mastercard and Visa credit cards as payment. When making a reservation a credit card number is required to guarantee the reservation. If you are unable to book via these methods we also take bank transfer/draft. However, this must be organised a month prior to arrival.

Q: How can I check if I successfully made a booking?
A: If you made your booking on Barnacles Hostels online reservations system check your booking by going to Check It on our Dublin or Galway booking engines and typing in your Confirmation Number and Reference Number. Your reservation details will be displayed. Alternatively you speak with our reception staff who will be happy to check for you: Dublin +353 1 6716277, Galway +353 91 568644.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Notification of cancellation is required 7 days prior to arrival to avoid being charged 100% for the first night. In the event of notification less than 7 days prior or in the event of a no show, the credit card will be charged.

Q: Do you take group bookings?
A: Yes we do! If you want to know more visit our groups page.

Q: Do you have age restrictions?
A: No, we cater for people of all ages. We recommend people travelling with small children reserve a complete room, but this is totally up to the guardian/parents of the children.

Q: Do I have to be a member?
A: There is no membership fee involved. We are independent hostels and members of the Independent Holiday Hostels of Ireland Association. To stay at our hostels all you need is a passport/drivers licence as proof of identity and enough money to pay for your stay for the night.

Q: Can I smoke in the hostel?
A: No, smoking is not permitted in any part of the hostels. This is endorsed by No Smoking in the Workplace legislation introduced by the Irish Government in 2004 to safeguard the health of employees in the workplace. This national smoking ban also applies to pubs, restaurants, cinemas and all public amenities.

Q: Do Barnacles hostels have Wifi and Internet facilities?
A: Yes! Every guests gets free Wifi and a free 15 minute pass for use of the internet on our PCs.

A: It's easy! The Bus and Train station is just 5 minutes from ourGalway Hostel. Galway Bus and Train stations are located in the same depot in the City centre so you never have far to walk to find us. Q: What are the best things to do in Galway?
A: Barnacles Hostel Galway has a variety of room types available, from doubles, twins, 4 bedded, 6 bedded to large dorm rooms sleeping 8 or 12 people. All dormitaories have bunk beds with en suite bathrooms. Please check availability and book online.

Q: Where can I park my car in Galway?
A: The closest car park is Hynes Yard Car Park - less than 5 mins walk to the hostel. If you get your ticket stamped by Reception the cost is €8 for 24 hours or 80c per hour. This is half price.

A: It's simple! We are located on Temple Lane, in the heart of Temple Bar. Temple Lane is just off Dame Street, close to the Dame Street Junction. Go to our Directions page to find out more specific information on getting to our hostel via walking, train and bus.

A: The closest car park is on Fleet Street - less than 5 mins walk to the hostel. From 6pm-8am it costs €9 if you get your ticket stamped by Reception. Outside those hours the cost is €3.20 per hour and €24 for 24 hours.
