Aran Islands

A trip to the islands is a must when visiting the West. The islands are rich in culture, language and heritage of Ireland. The largest, Inish Mor, has a visitor centre, many craft shops and pubs. See the island by hiring a bike from the main port.

How to get there? Ferries leave Rossaveal harbour (45 mins from Galway City) daily to all three islands - the journey takes about 40 minutes. Discount tickets are avaliable from Barnacles - but before you go check the ferry timetables. There are also regular flights between Spiddal and the Aran Islands.

The Cliffs of Moher and The Burren

The Burren is 100 square miles of bare limestone rock. Its formation has lain unspoiled since the ice-age and is a unique habitat for many plants and flowers. The stunning Cliffs of Moher stretch for 8km & rise up to 214 metres above the Atlantic Ocean. During the Summer months this makes a great place to eat a clifftop lunch.
