Events in Galway this October

Galway, as the festival capital of Ireland, does not disappoint or slow down! There is plenty of events you can pick from happening in Galway this October – whether you are into sports, Halloween, jazz or comedy, there is a festival for that! 

Galway Bay Run

This event sells out every year, so if you want to do it, make sure to register ASAP! This year, Galway Bay Run takes place on 7th of October.  The course straddles the quaint Latin Quarter of Galway City, the famous Claddagh Quay and the majestic coast road with it’s panoramic views of the Burren in County Clare across the Atlantic waters of Galway Bay – very few marathons worldwide can boast such a pretty mix of scenic views. 

Galway Jazz Festival

5-8th of October is Jazz time in Galway! Taking place in various venues across city, this is great opportunity to hear some of the local artists and international stars.  

Baboró Childrens Festival

Baboró International Arts Festival for Children is recognised as the leading Irish arts festival devoted exclusively to children with an attendance record of over 72,000 since its foundation in 1997. One week every October is devoted to presenting high quality national and international arts for children. All sorts of arts for children will be happening from 16-22 October 2017

 

Vodafone Comedy Carival 

If belly laughing is your thing, do not miss Galway;s Comedy Carnival taking place from 24th till 30th of October.  If you missed Reginal D Hunter on Edinburgh Fringe, see him in Galway! Dara O’Briain, Tommy Tiernan, Dave O’Doherty and Foil, Arms And Hog are just some of awesome acts you should defo see. Tickets have just gone on sale, get them now! 

Galway Aboo Halloween Festival

The Galway Aboo Halloween Festival takes place in the medieval streets of Galway’s Latin Quarter from Friday 28th to Sunday 30th of October 2016. It is the country’s largest Halloween Festival and plays host to a number of activities and events so promises to be a superb weekend for all ages. Expect a parade, Carnevil (Galway’s first scare attraction), Rocky Horror Skeff Show (pack that golden short shorts!) as well as ghost ship! Excitement!
