Our favourite Dublin Pubs

We've picked our favourite ten pubs in Dublin. For more information just ask any of the friendly hostel staff at Barnacles Temple Bar House.

An excellent way to experience Dublin's best Pubs is to partake in an organised pub crawl. Our recommendation is the Original Backpacker Pubcrawl. During the winter months they start outside Trinity College at 8pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

The Temple Bar, Temple Bar

The Temple Bar, Temple Bar

Situated in the heart of Temple Bar it is consistently one of the buzziest and liveliest pubs in Temple Bar. This pub knows what a good pub is and s not afraid to flaunt it. Musicians regularly start playing live for no reason and anyone is free to join in. Only two doors down from Barnacles Temple Bar House - it's the perfect first pint on your night out.

The Auld Dubliner, Temple Bar

The Auld Dubliner, Temple Bar

Just around the corner from The Temple Bar Pub it's another lively place for a night out. This pub is ideal to have a good 'sing song' and a great laugh in and as a result you will never know what you will end up singing or indeed who you will be singing with.

Also in the centre of Temple Bar, this pub offers a good lively atmosphere with music filling the air - both Irish and the latest sounds. A live Irish band plays upstairs at the weekend and it can be extremely busy.

Brogans

Brogans, Dame Street

Just up the road from Barnacles Temple Bar House Brogans is a good start or finish to a night out. The atmosphere is laid back with the walls adorned with Guinness memrobilia and the wood finish adding to it's cosy nature. Brogans is open regular pub hours during the week and at the weekend. The staff are friendly, service is quick and the Guinness is one of the best in Dublin.

Ha'penny Bridge Bar, Wellington Quay

Right on the water, the Ha'penny Bridge Inn has a real Dublin atmosphere. The upstairs bar is a great spot to catch a variety of live music. Although seemingly small, it does get a good crowd especially on Tuesday nights for their Open Mic Sessions (upstairs bar) where up and coming acts can get up and can perform anything from comedy to music to drama.

The Foggy Dew, Dublin

The Foggy Dew, Fownes Street Upper

The Foggy Dew is a good meeting point located adjacent to Central Bank on Dame Street. It has a very lively atmosphere with the best of alternative music playing throughout the night. The pub becomes busy around 6pm weekdays when the workers spill out from the large populated work places of the city so if it's a sit down your looking for make sure you are there early!

The Brazen Head, Dublin

The Brazen Head, Lower Bridge Street

The oldest pub in Dublin as a pub has always stood on this spot since 1198. Leading up to the pub, you pass through the beer garden which is a great spot on a sunny day for a few beers. It also has a bar now as well as heaters so smokers can light up come rain or shine. The crowd is a good mix of young and old offering a  lively ambience.
